Pollination

Trevor is a much sort after government and grower consultant for trees and plants, such as almonds, apples, pears, stone fruits, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, avocados, vegetables, melons and seed crops, all of which need bees to produce a crop or are enhanced in quality and quantity by bees. Now his son Jonathan and nephew Reece are intricately involved, creating innovative tools to bring beekeeping and pollination to a new level.
Auditing
Jonathan and Reece have continued the family tradition of innovation by developing beehive auditing software that is the first of its kind in Australia. The usual manual audit of hives on almonds has progressed to a detailed visual report of beehive quality for each bee site that can be reviewed with other sites across the whole farm. Hive quality information is collected on iPads in the field and hive locations are tracked via satellite mapping and GPS. The software is integrated with mapping technology to provide the grower with a transparent report of beehive numbers, quality and position so that each drop can be tracked for performance and fruit set. This system can be replicated across all types of crops that use bees for pollination.
Consulting
An interest in pollination began as a teenager in the 1960’s when Trevor found that cucumbers grown in a local glasshouse weren’t pollinating as they should, so he developed a way of keeping the bees happy to accomplish the needed results. Since then pollination has become a passion and a specialty, and Trevor has become a leading government and grower consultant in pollination around the country for most trees and plants that need bees, including but not limited to, almonds, apples, pears, stone fruits, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, avocados, vegetables, melons and seed crops.
